Prakash Dahal: divorced, married and now eloped with ‘lots of money’

Two months ago, when Nepal Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai sanctioned Rs 20 million for a nine-member expedition to Mt Everest, it sparked outrage over what many saw as splurging of public money on a team that included Prakash Dahal, son of Maoist leader Prachanda.
Prakash later announced he did not need the money, ending that controversy, only to enter another. Prakash, married with a child, has now apparently eloped with one of his expedition team-mates, Bina Thapa Magar, a Maoist student activist. This was after they had scaled the peak.
Prakash, 31, and Bina are said to be “in hiding” in Patna, a city where he had gone to school from 1996 to 2002.

प्रकाश दाहाल र अखिल क्रान्तिकारीकी नेत्री विना मगरको सम्बन्ध अहिले चर्चामा छ । तर, माओवादीभित्र यस्तो समस्या पहिलोपटक आएको होइन । माओवादी अध्यक्ष प्रचण्डका छोरा भएकाले अहिले ठूलो प्रचार भएको छ । तर, माओवादी मूलधारको राजनीतिमा आएपछि मात्र होइन, गणतन्त्रका लागि बलिदानीपूर्ण आन्दोलन गरिरहेको वेला पनि माओवादीमा यौनकाण्ड भएका थिए । अहिले राज्य समितिस्तरका नेता प्रकाश कारबाहीमा परेका छन्, तर यसअघि केन्द्रीय नेतृत्व तहकै नेता यस्तै काण्डमा मुछिएका थिए ।
प्रकाश माओवादीको राज्य समितिका सदस्य हुन् । राज्य समितिका सदस्यलाई पोलिटब्युरोले कारबाही गरेको भने यो पहिलोपटक हो । माओवादी अध्यक्ष प्रचण्डले आफ्नै प्रस्तावमा छोरा प्रकाशमाथि कारबाही गराएका हुन् ।

Why Maoist clash began from Chitwan?

KATHMANDU, July 3: Various questions have arisen following Saturday´s violent clash between the cadres from UCPN (Maoist) and its breakaway party CPN-Maoist in Chitwan.

Many have wondered why all this began from the home district of UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and new party´s General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa, among other senior Maoist leaders. Questions abound: Whether they fought over property or the leaders´ prestige issue triggered the clash or is there any other reason.

The UCPN (Maoist) party owns its party offices and other properties in at least 50 of the total 75 districts. No clash has been reported in other districts so far.

No end in sight to Maoists' fight over party property

KATHMANDU, July 2: The row between the UCPN (Maoist) and its breakaway CPN -Maoist over properties owned by the party is likely to deepen if the parties fail to amicably settle the issue of sharing the properties worth millions of rupees.

While the UCPN (Maoist) has staked claim to all the properties and refused to share them with the breakaway party, CPN-Maoist has maintained it has equal rights to the properties.

As of Sunday, the parties have found no solution to the issue.
