Will Maoist hold general convention?

Dahal weighs opportunity, challenge

KATHMANDU, July 29: The ruling UCPN (Maoist) that has lately seen much upheaval has once again announced a date in February for its general convention to elect a new party leadership, the third such announcement in 22 years.

However, a diversity of views exists concerning this development. For some the announcement was a tactical response to a similar announcement made by the breakaway CPN-Maoist to hold its general convention a month earlier, rather than a sincere move towards a truly democratic party.

But for others, Dahal is keen on the convention since it will not only be taking place with the most favorable timing and political environment for him but also the gathering will provide him a golden opportunity to fend off accusations of holding the topmost position in the party for 22 years without the mandate of a general convention.

सर्वोच्च अदालतले सञ्चारमन्त्री बहाल भएका वेला जयप्रकाशप्रसाद गुप्तालाई सार्वजनिक पदमा हुँदा ८४ लाख रुपैयाँ भ्रष्टाचार गरी कमाएको र उक्त रकमको कुनै स्रोत देखाउन नसकेको ठहर गर्दै डेढ वर्ष कैदको सजाय सुनाएको थियो । त्यो फैसला भएको र जयप्रकाश जेलमा बस्न थालेको पाँच महिना भइसकेको छ । राजनीतिलाई राम्रोसँग बुझेका र पटक-पटक मन्त्री भएका गणतान्त्रिक फोरमका अध्यक्ष जेपी गुप्ता अहिले सदरखोर डिल्लीबजारमा छन ।

साउन ३ गते बुधबार। बिहान १० बजे साथी केपी ढुंगाना प्रधानमन्त्री निवास, बालुवाटार गएका थिए। यही हप्ता रिलिज हुने आफ्नो पुस्तक ओपन सेक्रेटको विमोचन गरिदिन निमन्त्रणा दिन। पुस्तकप्रेमी विद्वान प्रधानमन्त्रीका रुपमा चिनिएका बाबुराम भट्टराईले ‘हुन्छ, म आउँछु’ भने। ‘साहित्यप्रति एकदमै रुचि राख्ने मान्छे हुँ। सत्य घटनामा आधारित पुस्तक रहेछ, पढ्छु पनि, कार्यक्रममा आउँछु पनि’ भनेपछि ढुंगाना दङ्ग ! जाँदाजाँदै प्रधानमन्त्रीले फेरि भने, ‘समय मैले बिर्सन सक्छु है, विश्वदीपलाई टिपाएर जानु होला। उनले पुस्तक पनि छाडेर गएका थिए।त्यही दिन राति प्रधानमन्त्रीका सहयोगीले फोन गरेर यसो पो भने- ‘प्रधानमन्त्री अहिलेसम्म किताब र पत्रपत्रिका विमोचन कार्यक्रममा जानुभा छैन, त्यसैले उहाँ आउन नसक्ने हुनुभो।’

बाबुराम भट्टराईलाई खुलापत्र

I'm fan of the articles of Krishna Jwala Devkota.
I got chance to read his article after long and long...
I could not complete his article and also interview of Himal Sharma. The interview was taken by his sister Pramila.
I know, Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai will read both articles. Its reason is that he always inquisitive to read related him.But I don't know, why, I'm not sure he will remember these articles at the moment of signing Raju Basnet's promotion.
Why? His performances are enough to guess.
Anyway, the article and interview both returned those days which I forced to forget. But never.
