माओवादीमा दुई सय ५१ सदस्यीय महाधिवेशन आयोजक समिति

एकीकृत माओवादीको महाधिवेशन आयोजक समिति दुई सय ५१ सदस्यीय हुने भएको छ । विभाजनपछि रहेको एक सय चार सदस्यमा एक सय २७ जनालाई तत्काल थप्ने र बाँकी २० जनालाई पछि थप्ने निर्णय पार्टीले गरेको हो ।
बुधबारको महाधिवेशन आयोजक समितिको बैठकमा अध्यक्ष पुष्पकमल दाहाल प्रचण्डले एक सय ७५ सदस्यीय समिति बनाउने प्रस्ताव लगेका थिए । तर, धेरैलाई समेट्न खोज्दा समिति धेरै ठूलो भएको छ ।
'हामीले तत्काल दुई सय ५१ सदस्यीय आयोजक समिति बनाउने निर्णय गरेका छौँ, केन्द्रीय सदस्यहरूको कार्यविभाजन शनिबारको बैठकले टुंगो लाग्छ,' प्रवक्ता दीनानाथ शर्माले नयाँ पत्रिकासँग भने ।
महाधिवेशन आयोजक समितिका सदस्य खगराज भट्टले छुटेका केही साथीलाई कार्यालयको बैठकले थप छलफलपछि थप्ने बताए । बुधबार बिहान बसेको एकीकृत माओवादीको पूर्वपदाधिकारी बैठकले एक सय ७५ सदस्यीय आयोजक समिति बनाउने सहमति गरेको थियो । तर, आयोजक समितिको बैठकमा गुनासो आएपछि सदस्य थपिएका थिए ।

KATHMANDU, Aug 2: UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal´s plan to give full shape to the party´s general convention organizing committee (GCOC) with a membership of 175 was foiled as his proposal naming 68 new members was fiercely criticized by party leaders at a meeting of the existing organizing committee on Wednesday.

Dahal floated his proposal on Wednesday as a meeting called last week had broken up following objections by the other leaders. The party´s plenum last month had converted the 104-member central committee into the GCOC and entrusted the same committee with the responsibility of giving it full shape.

No sooner had Dahal floated the 68 new names at the meeting Wednesday than the leaders airing their views not only fiercely criticized him for proposing names in violation of the criteria set out by the plenum but also turned down his proposal outright.

Dahal found himself in trouble as even members such as Top Bahadur Rayamajhi from the taskforce formed to select the names stood against the proposal.

Dahal was suggested to propose the names after a meeting of office bearers held earlier in the morning failed to come up with a consensus list.

Can Dahal give his party's committee full shape?

KATHMANDU, August 1: As the troubled UCPN (Maoist) gears up for a crucial meeting of its General Convention Organizing Committee (GCOC) slated for Wednesday to fill its 71 vacant seats, commentators are watching how Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal will carry out the job, something he has been avoiding for the last four years.

As per the party statue, the GCOC, which came into existence after the recently concluded party plenum decided to convert its Central Committee (CC) into the GCOC, incorporates a total 175 members.

The UCPN (Maoist) had enlarged its CC membership to 148 following the merger with the CPN (Ekata Kendra-Masal) led by Narayan Kaji Shrestha and other fringe leftist parties. But it shrank to only 104 members after the Baidya faction broke away.

Chairman Dahal had called the GCOC meeting last week but it was soon postponed after failure to reach an understating among the various factions on the new names on the GCOC along with their responsibilities.

KATHMANDU, July 29: The ruling UCPN (Maoist) that has lately seen much upheaval has once again announced a date in February for its general convention to elect a new party leadership, the third such announcement in 22 years.

However, a diversity of views exists concerning this development. For some the announcement was a tactical response to a similar announcement made by the breakaway CPN-Maoist to hold its general convention a month earlier, rather than a sincere move towards a truly democratic party.

But for others, Dahal is keen on the convention since it will not only be taking place with the most favorable timing and political environment for him but also the gathering will provide him a golden opportunity to fend off accusations of holding the topmost position in the party for 22 years without the mandate of a general convention.
