´No deal with establishment in bits and pieces
 What do you have to say about the separate meeting of the party establishment held on Monday? I had talked to the party chairman this morning before the meeting was held. I had asked him about the meeting. But they were not yet clear about it. I am yet to learn about the concrete decisions of that meeting. So it will be too early to comment. There were voices at the meeting that the unilateral political programs announced by your faction should be withdrawn for the sake of party unity. Will you do that? Currently, we are working out the concrete protest programs. Last Saturday, we had only announced the protests without any details. There is nothing wrong with that as we will come up with programs in accordance with the decisions of the last central committee meeting. We will not make adjustments to the existing status quo. |
Party on the verge of split: Dahal

So we should put in our best efforts to save the party,” a participant quoted Dahal as telling the emergency meeting of around 100 CC members close to him and Vice-chairman Baburam Bhattarai at Hotel Summit in Lalitpur Monday. The meeting came close on the heels of a rival faction´s recent announcement of a series of campaigns against the party establishment. The rival faction led by Mohan Vaidya has accused the establishment of not implementing the decisions of the last CC meeting to dissolve the current government leadership and mobilize the masses to frame "people´s constitution" and integrate the PLA into the Nepali Army (NA) in a “dignified” manner. |

KATHMANDU, March 19: A day after the Baidya faction announced protest demanding resignation of the prime minister, the establishment faction has called a separate meeting of central committee leaders close to the faction for Monday to chart out its strategy against “rowdy hardliners.”
“We are holding a separate meeting to chalk out programs in the wake of aggressive campaigns announced by the hardliners against us. The venue, however, has not been fixed as yet,” said party leader Haribol Gajurel who is close to Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal. However, knowledgeable sources said the meeting will be held in Lalitpur at 11 am.

KATHMANDU, March 18: In a clear manifestation of widening intra-party rift, the Maoist radical faction led by Senior Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya on Saturday announced separate protest programs to topple the “anti-national” government led by their own party and frame a “people´s constitution”.
“It is important to formulate immediate programs and a plan of action to mobilize the people and the party in a campaign for certain things including dissolution of government and framing a pro-people constitution,” said Maoist secretary CP Gajurel, who is close to Baidya.

KATHMANDU, March 16: Maoist PLA commanders have told the party leadership on Monday that they would opt out of integration if their basic demands were not met.
They put across such views at a meeting with the Maoist leadership including Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, who is also the prime minister, at the latter´s official residence at Baluwatar.
"We will rather tender our collective resignation if our concerns are not addressed. You should push for integration, and not for humiliating surrender," a participant quoted PLA commander Jivan Buda as saying during the meeting that saw participation of those up to brigade commanders.
