CPN-Maoist general convention from Jan 9-13

KATHMANDU, Aug 17: CPN-Maoist is holding its general convention from January 9-13 in Kathmandu.
The party has also formed a general convention main organizing committee under the leadership of party secretary Netra Bikram Chand. The ongoing party politburo meeting at the party headquarters in Buddhanagar will take a formal decision to this effect on Friday. Around 1,000 party leaders will participate in the general convention and chart out the party´s new path.

"We are holding discussions and we will take a formal decision Friday," said party spokesperson Pampha Bhusal. The party´s national conclave had mandated the party to hold the party´s general convention by January and had entrusted the party central committee to fix the date and venue.
Similarly, the party will hold its local- level conventions by December 15 and state committee convention by December 25.

"We fixed the dates keeping in view the time necessary to incorporate suggestions from the local and state committees," said party politburo member Narayan Sharma.

The party office bearers will prepare a political document to be presented during the general convention. Office bearers will complete the document by October 16 and forward it to the state and district committees for discussion.

The number of the participants for the general convention will be fixed in accordance with the number of members in the party.

"We have been planning to limit the number of representatives for the general convention to 1000," said Sharma.

The bureau in-charges of the party will be members of the main general convention organizing committee and chiefs of the sub-committees under the main committee. Party central committee members will be members of the sub-committees.
